Jack Mills BJRC 2014 Champion

Jack Mills BJRC 2014 Champion

At a packed BJRC prizegiving dinner last night Jack Mills of Blackwater Sailing Club gracefully received the trophy of BJRC Champion.

After a superb début season, Jack held out on the very last race of the 2014 season to come out on top when any one of four boats was in with a chance of seizing the crown.

Racing his projection sports boat ‘Bandit’, sometimes shorthanded, Jack and his crew showed exceptional skill in being able to race on the edge in heavy weathers as well as light airs, winning the individual races, Smith Cup, MYC Silver Salver and the Krohn Cup, as well as the Rabbit trophy for best newcomer.

Addressing the BJRC members and guests, Jack paid fitting tribute to his family, tracing his sail racing heritage back many generations through BJRC winners, father Tommy, uncle Charlie and Grandfather Jack, all of whom’s names adorn the many yacht club trophies that are fiercely fought for as part of the BJRC series.]

Well done Jack. A truly worthy champion.
